Welcome to the Hullabaloo! - considered by many to be the greatest rave organization to ever have existed. From 1997 to 2005 Hullabaloo set the standard to which all other raves are compared. A once-in-a-lifetime coming together of a lot of special people, celebrating their music, fashion and culture. Hullabaloo has thrown it's final event but this website will continue to exist forever as a testament to it's legacy. I wasn’t exaggerating when I posted hell has frozen over. After a 6 year absence, Anabolic Frolic is returning to (the final) WEMF.
A little bit of history...
Hulla was a partner with WEMF for 5 years, from 1998 till 2002 (inclusive). We took a percentage of the gate, and with that built an island oasis of Hulla inside WEMF. During that time, the Hullabaloo stage was one of the main attractions of the event, with production and lineups that equaled our biggest Hulla events of that era. No expense was spared, and I was really proud of what we brought to the event.
Unfortunately after the 2002 event there was a falling out between us and I’m not going to bother rehashing things here, but needless to say relations were publicly severed and we never worked together again.
Through a serendipitous chain of events, I was told by a friend that this year’s WEMF was announced as the last. I hadn’t given it much thought in years, but as the saying goes, time heals all wounds. I still had OS2’s home phone number and left a message that I saw the last WEMF was coming and in the spirit of the occasion I was ready to let bygones be bygones if they’d like to do something. OS2 called back that night, and we immediately moved past the bad history and planned to have me back at this year’s WEMF.
Destiny and I both knew what it would mean to see the name Anabolic Frolic back at WEMF, especially this final one. It just felt like the right thing to make happen on both our ends for what will be a mighty event.
The Hulla stage will remain a part of history that we will forever fondly remember, but for the first time I’ll be bringing a headlining hardcore set to the Destiny main stage on Saturday night. Yup, it’s going to be a full-on Frolic hardcore assault under the stars.
A little bit about my set… For the years I was there, for many people the Frolic set on Saturday night was a highlight of the entire WEMF weekend with the Hulla stage overflowing on all sides and atmosphere that we're known around the world for.

For those who weren’t around back in the day for the original Frolic sets at WEMF, prepare for a treat, starting with watching the crowd swell up in the minutes before it begins and that famous one-of-a-kind atmosphere that's the trademark of every Anabolic Frolic set. It will be something you will remember for years to come.
The location this year sounds gorgeous, the music will be running all night, and as we did with our own final Hulla, the main stage production will be a throw back to WEMF’s greatest days and should be an amazing sight to behold. I look forward to seeing you there.

A little story to mark the occasion...
Connor is a bona-fide Hulla baby. At the Hullabaloo reunion last summer Robin made a spontaneous announcement to the crowd that she was ready for another baby.
The baby connection continues - The party ended with arguably the greatest Hulla moment of all time when I told the crowd that there was something I had never done in 10 years - raved with everyone on the dance floor. So I came down into the crowd for the final 3 tracks of the night which were voted on by everyone and premixed by me. The place was going apeshit, everyone around me was going nuts, Since there was no DJ anymore, the stage was filled with dancers. The whole place was exploding with Hulla love. I turned to Robin on the dancefloor and said "Look at what we created".
When the final chords of Heart of Gold played no one left, people cheered, multiple chants started and there were a few group hugs with everyone piling around me and robin. The post Hulla went on for about 15 minutes with no music. Then finally we wrapped it up.
Our Hullabaloo experience and being the recipients of so much love and energy deeply affected us. Robin and I came home with our heads so high in the clouds, it was like we did drugs, but it was a completely natural high. We felt that same intense "in love" that we had not felt since early in our relationship. Anyone who has been together for a long time knows you trade away those early intense feelings for a more comfortable love. We felt really lucky to experience something like that again. We decided to have a baby, and within a few weeks of Hulla Robin was knocked up.
Connor will always have a great story about how he was literally created from love. And we have the recordings and everything to prove it.

After much contemplating and agonizing, we’ve decided not to go ahead with a Hullabaloo 2008 reunion party.
I know lots of people will be disappointed, but as we sit on the cusp of when I’d have to pull the trigger and commence with the plans in earnest, I’ve had to conclude a few things.
One is that it was far easier to throw 5 Hullas a year than 1. Hullabaloo is one of the best executed promotions because of the untold hours that go on behind the scenes to make it happen. No-one other than a very small group and the promoters I’ve mentored know of all the working pieces that need to be executed to make a successful event. It’s a commitment of several months work, and juggling that with our other businesses and personal life has been a challenge. Starting from scratch after a 2 year break was difficult and makes me gun shy to start it again.
We’ve also been faced with personal challenges. Robin’s pregnancy hasn’t been the smoothest thing in the world, actually it’s been downright difficult. Without going into details, all I’ll say is that Robin would be responsible for most of the work leading up to the party and she’s in no condition to do that right now.
The other thing is that Hulla is a defunct promotions company, our last event was officially in 2005, and we threw an amazing reunion last year. That reunion was as perfect a party as I can imagine, with all the elements that I wanted to see. But now it’s been done, and I don’t immediately have thoughts on what to do for another one. What I don’t want to do is just revive Hulla and start throwing more events with rotating lineups of guest DJs. We did that for most of a decade and it’s behind us now in rave history.
The OMGH event was a special one-off reunion and was exactly what I wanted to see that night. Everything was inspired and perfect, from reviving the Group Hug name, the old team was back in fine form, and we got to close the party in the most special way imaginable. I’m left asking myself, where can I take it from there?
Complicating matters further, not all of our past Hulla talent were immediately on board for another reunion. That’s fine, we’re all getting older and we all move on, but then the parties become less a reunion and more just another Hulla with a different lineup, and I retired from that in ’05.
Not to mention there are still loose ends from OMGH that aren’t finished, like the DVDs and outstanding CD orders. Again, juggling that with the difficult pregnancy and everything else has been hard, and I can’t imagine starting anything new until the old stuff has been dealt with, but here we are in February and I have to make a decision right now.
So, there’s a lot of factors there. If I was to follow last year’s schedule, I’d have a flyer done and complete in the next week or 2, and tickets would go on sale next month. The above mentioned issues aren’t going to be resolved in the next few weeks, so that leaves us where we are now.
So, what’s going to happen? Well, as mentioned, any plans for a summer reunion are off the table as of now. I’ll be arranging refunds for everyone who bought Hulla memberships to reserve tickets.
We’ve recently signed on with a distributor to take over our HullaStore orders. Any new orders will be channeled through our new distributor and dispatched within 24 hours, and we’ll be working on getting all outstanding orders caught up. Everyone who bought something will get what they paid for and I owe it to you to take care of that before we start something else. Just trust that in all these years we’ve always followed through, and will continue to do so. Again, that’s part of what gives me such hesitancy to start something new.
This website will remain online indefinitely, just as it’s always been, as a historical site for all our past achievements and to inspire those who weren’t part of the magic back in the day. We’ll still share a little of that Hulla magic at any Anabolic Frolic DJ appearances, and I’ll continue to mentor a new generation of promoters who can be successful from not having to learn things the hard way.
Will there ever be another reunion? I can’t say at this time. As I’ve said before, I never thought we’d have a reunion in the first place, and we did, so I’ll never say never again, but for 2008 it’s not to be.
Thanks to everyone who keep that Hulla spirit alive, those that were part of the last reunion and made it seem like nothing had ever changed, and everyone that’s supported us over the last 10+ years.

The next Hullabaloo reunion date is the weekend of July 18th and 19th, 2008.
It’s hard to argue with how fast tickets sold out for OMGH, but the party itself was such a critical and emotional success we decided to seize the left over feelings in the air and mark that date for a future reunion party. Hulla will forever be officially “over” but it was really nice to revisit it, as well as welcome a whole new generation of Hulla Ravers into the fold and we look forward to doing it one more time.
The other thing is that Hullabaloo has turned into a global party, attracting patrons from all over the world, so it seemed prudent to let people start making their plans now since there could be significant investment by some in getting here.
More details about the party and weekend won’t be made until early 2008, but after talking to many patrons about their need to plan ahead I’ve come up with an optional way to hold a ticket for the next event.
