The best Hulla party you NEVER went to

Figured I'd throw out this question, which is a little different than the usual "best of" threads.

What's the best Hulla party you NEVER went to?

The one you COULD have gone to, but didn't, and then regretted it afterwards.

Don't bother considering ones before your time, just the ones that came around after you knew Hulla existed.

kandeegirl2 September 19th, 2005 07:58 PM

considering the only times i missed a hulla it was due to financial issues i can't say ones i could have gone to but didn't cuz i would have if i could have. wish i could have been to the four i missed.

itsgigglegirl September 19th, 2005 09:32 PM

^^^ditto...i couldn't go to the ones i missed because flying cross country ain't cheap, and school doesn't let you out of class for raves ;)

Still, I wish i could have gone to anthems...it was before i started going granted, but knowing what i do about it now, i really wish that had been my first :)

spideygirl September 19th, 2005 11:05 PM

i saw the title of this thread & immediately thought of "GROUP HUG" (2000). i honestly can not remember the reason i did not attend. i know i was planning on going to "through the looking glass" the party that was cancelled & ended up becoming "group hug". maybe i didn't know of the venue in time? i can't remember the reason, but of course i know that i regret missing it, out of all the Hullas i never went to i think it was the best. i remember reading the reviews & feeling like i missed the perfect vibe.

Snuffy September 20th, 2005 12:04 AM

Wish I had gone to the first hulla but I wasn't even a raver back then.

gator September 20th, 2005 12:34 AM

I would also have to say Anthems. Happened very soon after I started going to Hulla. I think I was kinda up in the air about going, but finances and the fact that it was on a Friday are probably the reasons I didn't end up going.

kylefabulous September 20th, 2005 05:39 AM

hrm... well honestly.. i've been partying since i was 13... i knew about hulla... since near the beginning... i had all the H2BHC disks... as well as many later happyhouradio sets... i followed it alot... i never could get anyone to go with me... all the kids i knew here in detroit were techno purists... i was convinced... sadly the 1st hulla in went to was funtopia 7. I am a very dedicated person... and to something as amazing as hullabaloo... i wish that i had been to every hulla EVER... i'm sorry frolic for not giving a more specific answer.. but really... i cannot imagine what it would have been like to be there from the start... and that truly is my wish. I loved hulla for what it was... and i didn't miss a single one after i started going. I honestly... from the bottom of my heart wish i would have found hulla sooner... i think foreverland... is REALLY the one i wish i had been at.
I love nothing more than a messsy HUGE warehouse party... damn i would have loved to have been there...

but honestly... for the amazing times i did have.. i am so greatful...

peachfuzz September 20th, 2005 10:13 AM

I'd never known of hulla until fires in the sky. I was all set to go, but my ride fell through. :\

neverlandgurl September 20th, 2005 12:19 PM

i'm sad i missed the funtopias (except for birthday funtopia 7) .... i <3 bouncy castles

CareSieB September 20th, 2005 06:19 PM

i gotta say the anthems too, i would die to have a time machine to go to that one

fallenangelslove September 20th, 2005 06:44 PM

I have known about hulla's since novenber of 2001 and only went to the last two...i regret missing any of them, they were amazing parties, i am glad i got to the ones i did though

deggs September 21st, 2005 02:10 AM

I knew about hulla for a while. I was introduced to HHC around 98/99 by a buddy who was an hhc producer and dj and played in a band that always did shows with one of my old bands. Though I ended up losing touch with the guy, I still really kept on listening to HHC (I ended up buying tons of compilations over the past few years). When I heard that Hulla was ending, I decided it's time to go and check out the remaining few that were left. Anyways, I really regret (soooo regret) not getting into the scene earlier because I totally love it.

Anyways, based on what I gather from other people, I really wish I went to the following

Get Hype
View to Thrill
Meltdown
Into The Blue
Anthems
ForeverLand

also I really wish I caught Hulla@WEMF. By the time I started going to WEMF, there was no hulla stage. Oh well. Maybe someday (though i doubt it)

DJLeash September 21st, 2005 04:14 AM

yeah I wish I would have made it to a hulla at wemf tent. I heard they were great. And well really I wish I could have made it to all of them.

Busta September 21st, 2005 09:34 AM

Anthems. Everyone that went seemed to have had an extraordinarily great time.

anabolic frolic September 21st, 2005 10:41 AM

What's interesting about The Anthems was that it was a last minute party with only 2 weeks of promotion. And on a Friday no less since the Opera House generally needs to be booked 8 months in advance for a Saturday.

I can't recall why we didn't schedule a July party normally that year, but we celebrated our annivesary in May for whatever reason. Scheduling was a little messed up.

kandeegirl2 September 21st, 2005 12:56 PM

yah thats why i didn't get to go to anthems... ^^^

silver1 September 22nd, 2005 10:29 AM

Funtopia 1 :(

Everybodies_Daddy September 22nd, 2005 12:51 PM

Into the Blue. Granted, I didn't even know what a rave was then, but it had MC Ruff, it had Dominik, it had Spinback...

That, or I wish I'd stayed in line for Electric Dreams.

Into the Blue was the debuts of Brisk, MC Storm & DJ Spock.

Return of the Vibe was Spinback & Ruff.

Everybodies_Daddy September 30th, 2005 11:51 AM

D'oh. That's the one then.

And the lasers at Into The Blue kicked ass... u can't forget the lasers.

anabolic frolic September 30th, 2005 01:36 PM

I've got video from that party, and that laser is ridiculous. It's scary to watch the beams shooting into the crowds, I'm surprised no one got blinded.

kylefabulous September 30th, 2005 03:53 PM

^^^ frolic i want to see it...

pweasssssseee.... =)

*begs*

DJLeash September 30th, 2005 03:54 PM

for real.

anabolic frolic September 30th, 2005 04:08 PM

I've got tons of video from "the good old days" including a few documentaries Gobstopper's crew had put together. I was planning on digitizing them at some point.
