I've tried doing that.
The problem is if I'm sweating so much that I get stinky enough for deoderant, it will help for maybe five minutes before my sweat overwhelms it.
Taking a shower as late as I can before arrival at the venue seems to do the best for me. And wearing relatively light, loose clothing so sweat can actually evaporate somewhat rather than stick to me.
