Frolic probably doesn't wanna spend a lot of $$$ for outside talent that do not spin hardcore, understandable espcially since hulla is a hardcore party... but at least he can get some local talents that are actually good, like Dr. Trance....

And old skool trance rocks

There can't be a handicap. Really, there can't be any sort of organized judging system, either. Liquid is art. Different people have different tastes in art. Just the same, to one person, an experienced liquidist could suck in comparison to a newbie, just because of how the newbie interprets the music. Well, that's what I think, anyways.

Chip

Yeah, i'm not sure if we should even have judges... wouldn't make it much of a competition though... maybe more of a showcase :P. We could just go by applause?? might be hard to hear though lol.

We should just have a Host that listens to the crowds reactions and determins a winner.

i say applause, or crowd reaction...
this cuts down on favouritism by having judges (altho im sure they would be as objective as possible) it still could play a factor...
but im sure crowd reaction will be more than sufficient to judge a winner/winners

and whats the purpose of the sign up? its not like we can call up people as its their turn or something... just have a circle and have ppl go one at a time ... maybe just have a person regulating it ... like a referee or something u know, so that it doesnt get out of hand or turn into just a circle...

oh and are there going to be like timed limits? like there seems to be a lot of interest in this and so if there are all these ppl going to take part and we let them go as long as they want... its gonna be a 2 hour competition... a referee could watch that too...keep an eye on the time ... just a suggestion

i'd think maybe 1 min give or take 10s might be a good time...

also what will the format be? like one person at a time? a group of ppl at a time? will there be like quarter finals, semi-finals, finals, etc or what?

I agree with the crowder reaction on the judging and the time limit (one dancer at a time) But we should keep the sign up sheet just so we could get the word out to other people that may not have heard about it. I'm sure people that don't belong to this site will want to partake in the action. I like the idea of a tournament style competition but that might make things a bit legnthy

we could just have like everyone do their thing all at once
that way everyone also can move to the same music
crowd reaction would be a great thing

are we letting any style in this? freehand, poi... or even those like cool LED light things I've seen some people with hehe.

I just had the most ridiculous and relentlessly complicated idea ever...
like.. A TOURNAMENT!! with a big sheet of all competators, and you gotta like compete up to 1st place.... like say we got 8 entrants, 1vs2, 3vs4, 5vs6, 7vs8... then each one will have a winner, then winners of 1vs2 and 3vs4 will "dance off" and 5vs6 and 7vs8 will, then the winners of those two will and we'll have a champion!!

Ok i know that far too complicated and far too much work and a fuck load of trouble, but it would be kinda neat

LOL thats really really involved
but since you did mention somehting
glowsticks and photons are in my mindset 2 compleatly different entities
maybe the photon ppl have their thing and the glowstick ppl do their thing
and then like a misc group for ppl with other random light toys like them cool strobe FX toys, or the hyper chasers

Oh man this sounds awesome. I think we should have it one at a time, cuz having everyone go all at once would be more complicated cuz wouldn't you have to have a bigger circle? and i'm sure someone would hit someone else in the midst of all the glowsticking ...

also, would freehand vs poi be kinda hard tho? i mean, it is like a completely different style..

poi would so win, a couple stragetically timed "accidents" and all the glowstickers will be out cold

LoL
*reminder to self... bring hard hat to battle poi people

aside from the tournament tho...would anyone be up for this: after the comp we should just take over the upstairs area (everyone/anyone in the comp) and display a huge light show ... all at once ( or as many safely possible) spread out by the balcony for the entire hulla crowd to see... no comp... just a show for all the great ppl there... that would definitely be something to see...
