Angry what made me mad on a monday while shopping at target for soap, boxers and garbagebags

okay,
so there we were at target, shopping for some soap, some boxers, some garbage bags and something else that i can't remember. I had my son in the cart and my girlfriend took my daughter to go look around.
so naturally me and my son float into the toy section. We were looking around at transformers and such and we strolled on into the g i joe section.
I looked at my son and said damn, can't believe they still make these things.
he being only one just kinda looked at me and mumbled something that sounded like
gwah, ishabisha yaddy(its how he says i love you daddy)

and suddenly a man in an army dress suit came strolling up to me.
army guy- "Gi joes huh?"
me - "yup, did you know they still make these?"
army guy- "..."
army guy-" have you ever given any thought to..."
me(interuppting)- no, not ever, and plus i have kids to take care of.
army guy- you can take them with you
me- where to iraq? NO
army guy - you know we pay for college and stuff
me - I have children, and there for get bunches of grants and stuff, so no.
army guy- where'd you go to highschool?
me- midpark, so no(began to walk away)
army guy- they have a pretty good basketball team aye?
Me walking away rapidly...

so what the F is this????
I'm getting bugged in target to join the army! What kinda country is this???
I betcha bush has launched a new campaign along with his no child left behind act he passed a no shopper shall be left on bugged.
i'm not even safe looking for garbage bags. My kids are gonna be bombarded with these types of SALESMEN at school and that truly scares me that one day my kids are gonna be sixteen and be in highschool and some dumbass grunt is gonna tell em that the country needs em, and that they'll pay for college and you get spending money. It terrifies me that i won't be able to be there to tell that guy where to stick it. I mean i have respect for the soldiers and for the people that died and all, but the way they do that shit is friggin ridiculus. My kids can sign up for the army without my knowledge and be shipped off to korea, afghanistan, or iraq, or iran, or india take yer pick i have friends in i think every country i named right now that fell fer that stuff. I don't know what else to do, i'll join the army yep now there in some of the grossest places to be right now, it makes me damn sad sometimes.

sorry guyz i had to vent a little... its frustrating times...

This actually happened inside the store? Maybe you should complain to Target because people are soliciting inside the store.

Did you see F/911? The army targets shopping malls with lower income brackets on purpose to sucker people into it. Luckily in Canada our government is more into making people kiss and make up so we don't need to wory about people recruiting us to become paid murderers. Then again our government doesn't commit war crimes either *shrug* Great country you guys live in *two thumbs up*

^hahaha, might work. Still that's pretty intrusive, the army sets up in my school sometimes (maybe once a year) (yes I live in Canada), but it isn't like a manditory seminar or anything, its just a little booth to provide people the information they need, or answer questions if they have them if they are thinking about joining the millitary.

Also why on the price is right do people always wear thier millitary uniforms if they are in the army???

haha, I remember when I got that phone call from the army in high school.

army guy- "so do you play any sports?"
me- "Yeah, Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track."
army guy- "Oh Yeah? What kind of times have you run?"
me- "4:46 for the mile, 9:58 for the 2 mile, and 17:01 for the 5k."
army guy- "Wow! And how's school going for ya?"
me- "I have a 3.6 gpa."
army guy- "Wow! That's amazing! Have you ever thought about joining the army?"
Me- "No." *hangs up phone*

that dude's hopes were totally built up and then crushed instantly

I guess it makes them feel important. I was getting lunch at Subway the other day and there was a military guy in cammo there. I'm thinking to myself, "Is a war about to break out in the restaurant? Why do you need to be wearing cammo?"

Don't get me wrong though. I'm not disrespecting the military. I really feel bad for most of them. I saw in the news today that US casualties have hit 1500 in the war in Iraq. The military kids have to feel the burden of our f'd up militant government more than any of us. I just keep praying that some day everyone will realize that we are all one fucking people who are all looking from different points of views at the same big picture.

that doesn't always work...my friend christopher, who is in fact gay and had no interest in joining the military, told the recruiter who wouldn't stop harrassing him about his sexuality, and the recruiter told him he "can pretend he didn't say that" thanks to the don't ask, don't tell policy...

when i was graduating highschool I kept getting tons of calls and mail about joining the armed forces here, but when i went to college it stopped...now that i'm going to school for my professional doctorate, i get mailings from the navy about once a week telling me about all the perks of being a professional in their ranks...still not interested, tho, thanks guys...save my tax dollars and go do something useful

LOL, I'm a junior and have had a few people try that on me... I just give them a few blunt "no's" and they are on thier way. but every time I talk to a kid that says hes going to join the army, I reply with "thanks for taking my place pal! way to take one for the team!" then they say, "yeah, I'd do anything to get my hands on some Iraqis" then I give them the "your immature and stupid" look and walk off... I hate oklahoma...

That's the attitude that really gets to me. But what else can you expect when we've got a president that has divided the world into good people and evil people and is setting out to destroy the evil people.

^^^don't you mean the nerd at raves?
i loved when the army would call me at home
army: "oh you do music? we have a great band here!"
me: "well i sing, i don't play any musical instruments"
army: "oh....well what are you going to college for? you know we offer all sorts of programs!"
me: "i am going to school for theatre. i want to be an actress."
army: "oh....well have a nice day and good luck!"

i also had a friend who signed up, and then regretted it, tried every excuse in the book to get out of it (homosexuality, clinically insane, physically incapable) and finally hid out at a friend's house in another state on the date they were supposed to come pick him up. the army was furious and had stake outs outside his friend's houses here to see if he'd appear

LOL, wouldn't we all be relieved if that happened.
So many of the current problems of the world could be solved if that entire administartion was ousted and a sain one put in. Its people like Bush that make me want to go into politics so badly yet steer as far away from it as possible. There just so much political bullshit that goes on there and everyone wishes that they could do something to stop it, but we cant so we just try and avoid it as much as possible.

Fo real.
what really gets me is how its turned into this big like telemarketing/sales thing. I mean shit we're supposed to be one of the "strongest" countries in the world right?
Why do people gotta annoy me?

This one time me and my buddy were gettin some overpriced coffee at one of the local coffee shops and we were bullshitting and stuff and this girl came over and started talking too, so we were like ya cool whatever and had a nice conversation with her. Later in the conversation she says she's a recruiter for the army i believe and that we should come to her office sometime to chill and b.s.

so like a couple weeks later we went up there and were like hey, how's it goin? You wanna do coffee? And she sat us down and tried to recruit us. We were like, man, we just wanted to b.s. and get some coffee. We walked out. It was lame i tell you LAME.
I don't trust anything that the government has to offer, especially with bush because they sneak in little rules and loopholes in favor of the military and church in legislation that would other wise be good legislation. They're like i know this will pass cuz it'll do a lot of good so lets put something in there that will screw em over a little bit (or help out the big money guyz...)

grrr.

Ha I went to school in phoenix for recording music and cinematic post production...soooo...hearing is important to me and every time I go to hulla I forget earplugs because its usually this last minute rush routine before I leave...This time Im bringin them. Figures I always at least once during the night think about how they should have earplugs, if not free for a small charge, available to people at Hulla, and the whole time someones given them out.

I've got a couple boxes of ear plugs. I usually grab a handful before going to a party. So if you forget yours and you see me feel free to ask if I have an extra pair. I probably will. I hate to know how much hearing I've probably lost over the years of going to parties.

the recruiters came into my friends work (he works at a verizon cell phone place) and were *looking at phones* and my friend told me that they asked all kinds of questions about the phone and when it came time to sign the contract the guys says to my friend "if I sign this, will you sign my contract" and pulled out a recruiter form from a binder...

losers, my friend declined and the guy didn't buy a phone....

My friend was telling me this story from korea, that a few guys who were in the millitary (because its manditory there) were discharged because they were too addicted to the internet and couldn't stay focused on anything, and were starting to flake out without it. True story.
