Unhappy *sigh*

well this is sad. funtopia 3 was my first hullabaloo and also is my birthday party...so i was 100% planning on going for my bday this year...*sigh* hullabaloo is a PERFECT bday for me...now i don't know what i will do..
anyway, i understand why it is not happening and it just makes me more angry with the way things are going. not angry with promoters or anyone within the "scene" but with "political" powers that are trying to choke the party scene by any means necessary be it bringing injuctions against promoters or making parties too expensive to throw...
just my two cents

Wink

I wouldn't get to upset. Anabolic may not be able to find a venue by your birthday, but i'm sure he will find one soon. We all just need to have a little hope and let them know were not about to give up. Plus waiting a little longer will make it all the more enjoyable!

Anyways, Lets all cheer up and hang in there!!!! Good things come to those who wait.

sky lounge

i think it;d be good since there's two rooms (the main room and the bowling alley room), with a chill area outside as well... that venue fits a lot of people ....

the hamilton requests....

ok, i am someone who lives in hamilton, like a few of you, and i can see how you'd want it here... BUT, ok, i read through a few posts... and notived the ones that ppl say Scott Park?.. ok, that COULDNT work, i went to that school, sure it LOOKS big, but wait till you get inside, theres nothing there.. -i mean, the first floor is the auditorium, -i dont think ppl wanna dance on seats... i dont think those seats come out....
and the gym.. which is like, half the size of n e regular high school gym.. so i'd hafta say NO Scott Park..

the only hamilton venue i think would be suitable for funtopia, would hafta be the convention centre (or copps-but thats most likely more costly...)

and as for the convention centre.. well... i was only there once for a party, actually it was my first party ever, -in feb. of '99 -cant member the name,) but it was crowded.. but not that bad... so i think if N E WHERE in hamilton, that would be the place to go

but i dont know if Frolic wants a hamilton party... so its all up to him

Thans for the suggestions, but, I live in Toronto and have no interest throwing a party in a city I've only driven though in the past. Plus I've heard that hamilton is very anti-rave and parties have been shut down there in the past and nothing really happens there anymore, correct? (all ages, all night events).

Plus I could see the local authorities getting a little worked up over the thought of having an outsider have thousands of people "invade" their city.

We've used the guvernment twice in the past (Into the Blue and Foreverland) both of which were amazing parties.

However they wont rent out to all-ages events (ie: raves) anymore. strictly 19+.

Too big and too expensive. Way out of our league.
Quote:

Shock or Sky Lounge

Shock is run by people I refuse to do business with. Sky Lounge is not at the level we require.

NEWZ??

Now operating as a regular club. The only reason it was available years ago is that it was closed for it's regular clubnights. No clubowner will rent out a healthy operating club for a rave since it will kill their regular clientele (sp?)
Quote:

Or Luxor?

Luxor is run by people I refuse to do business with. Add to that that no party there has been able to run the whole night uninterupted, and add to that that the police out there are very anti-rave.

No more Docks eh!?

Docks is a possible venue, unfortunately they are BOOKED SOLID till 2002. The other problem with the docks is that it's very expesive and the pay-duty requirment is very high.

any more? trust me, things are dire out there.

well unfortunately as i've only partied in the greater Toronto area three or four times... and all of them were either at the Docks, Kool Haus, or a wittle club called Atlantis... i can't really help out with the venue situation
but where were Sound Clash 1 & 2 held? whut about the last two Big Bud's? if i'm not mistaken those were two sizable parties not thrown at the Docks...could you use those venues?

also (and more importantly in my mind) Anabolic Frolic & the rest of the Hulla Crew...
would you be interested in hosting a bus from Montreal?
Believe it or not the HHC scene here is huge and unfortunately besides from some smaller promoters...we don't get as much HHC as the market demands...I know i could pack a bus to Funtopia 4. I'd love to show the kids here what Hulla's all about!
If this business proposal sounds at all interesting please email me at superdude79@yahoo.com post stat (i apologize for the yahoo addresse but i don't feel comfortable revealing my local email addresse on a public message forum).

what about the phoenix? ive been there for punk shows, and i think it's one of my favorite venues. it's got an ok size floor, an upper level, a big room down the hallway where you go to get away from the loud music and rest.

I've been to the pheniox for Alternative nights on sayurdays. I think that would be a wicked venue. You would have to be very picky on what night you have it. It could prolly be big enough to intamently hold the whole Hulla massive. Why not ask them.
