i cant blame parents for not wanting their kids to go to raves, drugs, stabbings, drugs, ods, all they have to go on is what they see on the news... which is never good.

I guess if you have a semi good open relationship with your parents, you could try and let them read some PRO rave articles.
there have been a lot of really well written ones out there. maybe talk to them about plur, if they used to be hippies they might dig it?

My Dad was a hippy, he's down with the mary jane

I think honesty with parents is essential. Its better them letting them find out where you were. And if something did happen to you while at a party, they wouldn't be shocked to discover you were at a rave.

I can't imagine the heartbreak my parents would have gotten if I od'd at a party and they had to find out from an officer where I had been wheeled in from

It really is all about trust and honesty.

If your parents believe you are responsible, and know you can take care of yourself, then there shouldn't be too many problems.

At first my parents didn't know i went to parties. I was really young and probably not even mature enough to consider even telling them about it. Eventually they found out, which turned out to be amazing. It is so much better being able to tell your parents exactly where you are going.

I'm only 17 now. I tell them exactly where i am going when i go out. They are basically okay with everything, even when i go with people they have never met.

Of course parents are going to be overprotective, especially for the younger kids. You're going out for the whole night, surrounded by hundreds of people, drugs, etc. Just try to take on the mentality of your parents, and that should help you see things a little clearer.

And i must say, i agree with Elena on the grammer skills. oi vai!

It is always best to be honest. In the end it pays off.

That was actually before the whole candy kid thing really got going. Those were the good old days. Partying now can't even compare.

Im sure that if i lived @ home ma parents would not let me go out!!
Even when i was 18 living @ home I had to be in the house by midnight!!!!

But now im on my own and can party whenever I wanna, But inbetween Werk (TD BANK) and Dj'ing (if u call that a job) I really have no time to go out and party on ma own anymore!

And because ive taken a break from parting (going to a party and gettin all fucked up and staying out all night) Im not used to it anymore!!

I go to party now and if im spinning, i spin, hang out with some people for a bit, baybe have a drink or 2, then go home and crash!!!!!

Well i have a bad habbit of drabbling on and on and on and on and on and on .... OH SHIT there i go again!!!!

I went to my first party when I was 17 and my Mom was a little nervous about me going. My parents were never ones for listening to what is said in the media so they know raves were about dancing and having fun, not drugs. They know I smoke weed on occasion but they dont know about me doing E, so I'll just keep it that way for now. My parents only rule is that I phone them around 8 AM to let them know whats going on.

My parents know already that I am a big screw up, and that I occasionally party, they suspect I do some sort of drugs (I mean, seriously, how can their "perfect" daughter be so fu*ked up then?) They don't support my partying or my drugs or anything, so it shouldn't matter what they think to me. I stopped caring long ago about their thoughts on how my life should be run. I will NOT make up for their mistakes when they were my age! My parents believe anyone who stays out past 10pm is up to no good and all doped up on goof balls. I went to my first rave when I was 15, I am 18 now, and it never stops being fun (unless you get those 11-teen year olds posing as candy kids, and think they know what they are doing, and everyone knows who I am talking about too). Weed is relaxing and jib is fun too, it's all good, as long as you know how much your system can handle, party on... don't let parents stand in your way... ever... or else you will be living with them until you are 40... and even then it will be hard to leave. The point I am trying to make is, let your parents assume the worst and as long as you show up at home everynow and then, its okay. I like Mr Magoo's idea: Let your parents know about the weed, but nothing else... and then call your parents at 8am or so to let them know you are ok...

I too have some of these insanely strict parents.

I really hate lying to them, and have been trying to tell them since I started (Way back when I ws 15 in '99), But every time I bring up the subject, My mom comes in with the same old tried and true response "You're so naive! You have no idea what it's like out there. You wouldn't survive 5 minutes at a rave."

It's hilarious to hear, in it's own little way, but doesn't get me much anywhere.

I figure that when I finally do tell them I'll have to do it up real big. Leave some big presentation for them filled with reports and statistics and shiat. Then at the end put a note "By the way, I'm out partying right now, I'll be back with details at about 10 tomorrow".

Liable to get me kicked out, I know. But I really hate lying to them like this. Maybe I can just let them put 2 and 2 together on their own by playing music real loud, and leaveing some flyers sittign around.

Then maybe to top it off I'll tape some pics of me and some buds meeting Anabolic, along with a signed poster, along with the tape from Space Invader, and the flyer for the next party, onto my fridge.

Too subtle? what do you think?
