So a Rave was Raided

I went to a party on the weekend which most definatley looked like it was going to busted. It in fact did get busted and everyone in the venue was givin a $70 dollar trespassing ticket.
It is not known how much money the goverment made off of the people who went, my estimation would say $7000 all together.
*ouch*
Im not even talking about what the promoters may be charged with.

So I thought back and I figured if I had the choice to redo what I did, I would probably do it again. After all I had fun, the excitement was worth it, and the effort put in to have a basicly FREE party in an industrial complex was well worth it.

yes yes we got fined so in away it wasn't free but the fine did not take away from the enjoyment of doing something that isn't done all that often.

We met up with people at the map point, to be given another map point out in another part of town. When we finally made it to the 2nd map point we were escorted to the venue, through wooded terrain under bridges and train tracks. It felt rather like a hike. The anticipation was exilerating.
When we got there the complex was huge, we found ourselves exploring corridors and higher parts of the building we even got to the roof.

And when we did get busted the cops weren't so bad, besides the fact that we no longer could have fun and enjoy the rest of the night.
We did try to escape but the police had secured the perimeter pretty tightly, they had actually put there cruisers up against the emergency exits. The attempts to open the doors were futile.

There were no incidents either with police and partiers, everyone there was moderatly sober, alcohol and pot was basicly all that could be found at the event. Everyone was co-operative and the majority of the officers were respectale towards the people. They did not search anyone although they were trying to see if they could identify anyone who they already knew. The whole process of ticketing people was rather quick considering the amount of people that had attended we were out withing 20 minutes and everyone else was probably out by the end of the hour.

I am happy to report there was no body injured and nobody was arrested and probably the most satisfying part not only for the promoters but for the partykids as well was the hooting and cheering that errupted during our wait after a young girl who attended yelled "great party you guys" everyone agreed and they showed there appreciation the only way they knew how.
The police didn't know what to make of it so they just let the excitement reside.

It was at a water treatment plant.

The promoters have to go to court, I believe. And some vinyl was confiscated. This is what I heard from a few sources.

The party was AMAZING, though. I'd do it again in a second.

Quotes from the cops that I've heard so far:
"This is the best party I've ever had to bust up"
"If I could, I'd give you points for effort"

Oh man what a night.
The boys threw a wonderful bash. Simply amazing.

The meeting points were well done and thought out (even with the car accident right at the second meeting point as we pulled up to it!). Everyone was orderly from what I saw, and for the most part were out just to have a fun time.

Fines and such:
The promoters were not given a fine yet, they were however given a court date, and the fine (which for the offence is quite hefty) will be given out there. I think they are going to try and fight it, but noone is really sure.

I myself was given a fine and all, but I wormed my way out of it with the aid of a fake name and such. I was going to say the tried and true "Miles Belmont" as my name, but thats been used for years. There's probably a large bounty on his head.

Equipment:
Apparently the dukes lost a whack of vinyl, but the tables and generator were rented, and cannot be confiscated as they are not theirs to take. A few of the dj's managed to get their stuff out in time from what I understand.

I've only been to a few parties like this, and each one is more and more of an experience. I'm just glad I had a crew of people to bring with me this time instead of having to make it out alone like the last few.

Well if anyone wants to let these promoters know that they're free to contact me if they have any questions about their charges and advice on the matter. My case from the View to a Thrill party over firecode related charges lasted over a year and a half, with probably about 10 visits to old town hall. It ended up being very costly.

Well, Once again, we'd all like to thank everyone who came out for doing so, and we're glad that you guys arent taking the ticket thing too badly.

For everyone's info, we do have a court date, but the charge is just tresspassing as well... So the most we'll have to deal with is a hefty fine.

Also, keep in mind that unlike Hulla, we're simply to small and unknown for them to have any reason of making an example of us. At least publicly, so they won't hit us as hard as they'd hit hulla.

They also already made their point that these parties will not be tolerated by giving everyone present a fine. We weren't expecting them to do that, and they did mainly to discourage anyone from coming out to these events.

It's really just a question of weather they want to cripple us with a fine that ensures that we'll never have the money to do this again (and also put some of us in trouble with coming up with money for rent and school), or if they feel they've already made their point and let us go easy.

But Chris, I think one of us will contact you about this. Any pointers that you can give us for dealing with the guys who're gonna be writing our tickets as (opposed to the cops who actually busted us, who seemed nice enough) will be appreciated.

And again, thanks for coming out to the most expensive free party ever!
