Lightbulb rave is a stae of mind

hey everybody, great topic...

in a possible contradiction to you all, i believe there exists a drug problem only because we want it. sound strange? allow me to elaborate. for all of us who dose (and there are quite a few of us), somewhere in our heads we got it thinking that it is cool to dose up. Not cool in any commercial sense (not like 'GAP' cool), but in a way that we love how we feel when we're high. And we love how we feel when others are high around us. it's just different, and it feels good.

now, i wish there were a way to get around this illegal chemical reaction, but the plain truth is, we like it too damn much. but that doesn't make me an addict nor a criminal. i'm not some dosed up kid who does fuck all with my life 'cept to party and crack out.

but parties nowadays are capitlaizing on the fact that we get high... how else can you explain happy hardcore!!!
really though, what with all the bright blinking lights and what not, it doesn't make a whole lotta sense sober. i have been to parties where i didn't get high, and they weren't provided for others who wanted to get high, and it did work out well. the reality of it was that it was thrown for a more mature crowd (me being 23 was part of the younger crowd), and it did get a little boring. So i guess i'm trying to say that if people find getting high at raves and parties a problem (i don't, but that's me), then you gotta supplement that with something else... hey, i come check it out for sure!

p.s.: i do stongly agree with ADE insofar that my body is my own. i am old enough (legally as well as otherwise) to responsibly know what i am doing. i don't push drugs, and i don't go around telling people who are curious or flat out don't wanna know how great my trips are (except for this case, but i was trying to get a point across).

It is your body and choice...

Have you(or anyone) read the Pacman Quote?

Just because it feels good, does that make it all-right?...I have had just as an amazing time sober, as I have had dosed...it was an experiment...not a lifestyle...growth and development

much love and respect,

Remember the good old days, when the booth that sold you glowsticks and water would sell you E and crystal? The days of freedom without responsablility are over... our scene grew, became more noticable, and had to grow up, and with growing up comes responsability... I bet if you wanted to hit a party that has the same vibe as ours of yesteryear (Fresh off The Tree and Rush Hour ring those bells for me) try heading somewhere where the scene is newer, tighter and nearly invisible to the public eye... maybe Winnipeg, Phoenix or SoCal...

Promoters don't actualy get much say in this matter -- it seems to work a lot more like extortion. the police arbitrarily demand exorbitant numbers of Paid-Duty Officers -- not to mention undercover officers -- from event promoters whom the police clearly know can't afford to pay all these officers.
it is a deliberate, rave-targeting tactic that the police are using to price parties out of existence, despite whatever statements the chief may make to the contrary.

Paid-Duty Officer presence at parties is not a new thing, nor a necessarily bad thing at big parties, when having one officer on site means you get to have a stand-by ambulance on site as well.

but promoters should NOT have to pay a whole bunch of them to mill about, AND pay an undisclosed number of undercover officers to bust kids (usually for negligible quantities of drugs) out of their own pocket. police presence on this scale constitutes enforcement, NOT overtime, and if the boys in blue feel that they need to maintain such a gratuitous and intimidating a presence at parties, then the publicly funded police budget should pay for it, NOT US RAVERS.
